سيرجيو ماتاريلا هو الرئيس الثاني عشر للجمهورية الإيطالية منذ يوم 3 فبراير 2015. ولد في يوم 23 يوليو 1941 في باليرمو في جزيرة صقلية، وتخرج في جامعة باليرمو وهو سياسي من الحزب الديمقراطي الإيطالي. بدأ عمله في السياسة كعضو في البرلمان الإيطالي من 1983 إلى 2008 وأصبح وزيرًا للتعليم من 1989 إلى 1990 ثم وزيرًا للدفاع من 1999 إلى 2001. وفي 2015 انتخبه البرلمان ليكون رئيس الجمهورية خلفاً للمستقيل جورجيو نابوليتانو. ثم أُعيد انتخابه في 29 يناير 2022 لفترة رئاسية جديدة.
